The design brief asked to create a new e-commerce website, which was both elegant and functional, with a high-end modern look & feel.
As with any project, I like to get to know the brand’s history and their values. My design approach is to honor and built upon the previously done work in a contemporary way.
I borrowed some of the typographical and line elements from the company’s historical marketing materials as well as the predominant Azure blue color to highlight the important and actionable site components.
Organizing and designing the content to be easily understood and found was one of the important points. The shoppers have a lot of flexibility in finding what they are looking for via collections, filtering, popular combinations and building out their own ring.
The company values their legacy, craftsmanship and the importance of human connections. With this in mind the educational & research aspect is prominently placed throughout the experience.
Live chat and the location-based in-store appointment features were introduced as fairly new technologies in 2016 and not yet widely used.
